Our 2016 Rydal Hall yoga hikes weekend was another fantastic weekend. Great hiking and wonderful yoga in an amazing location and fantastic accommodation.
Rydal Hall itself is an historic and listed building and this is where we stayed and where we held the yoga classes with great views overlooking the hills.
Breakfast and dinner were also in the dining hall, which is a wonderful place to eat and the food is always great.
For this weekend Yen and I provided the pack lunch and we decided to try something a bit different from our normal sandwiches. So at lunch time we all tucked into a specially made pasta salad, which went down very well.
Rydal Hall Yoga Hikes weekend walks
On Saturday our walk took us around the lakes of Rydal water and Grasmere, where we had to stop for a group picture.
Then after a brief stop to the explore the village of Grasmere we continued on our way up beside the well named Sourmilk Gill waterfalls.
Our lunch stop was at one of our favourite spots. Easedale tarn is quite a popular walk from Grasmere, but its always a pleasure arriving here and enjoying the view.
After lunch we hiked back down to Grasmere and around the opposite sides of the lake arriving back at Rydal Hall for tea and cake on the lawn.
On Sunday, the Rydal Hall yoga hikes weekend walk, was another of our favourite hikes. Today we left the hall and headed towards Ambleside before turning right and climbing up to Lilly Tarn and Todd Crag.
The view from Todd Crag overlooking Windermere is always spectacular and more enjoyable for the fact that it comes as quite a surprise.
Its also a great place to practice your yoga poses:
And an equally great place to just sit and admire the view.
Our walk then took us around Loughrigg Fell to another very special place. Loughrigg Tarn is a great spot for our picnic lunch with a backdrop of the Langdale Pikes.
Where we had the company of two geese, who obviously wanted to share in our picnic.
We returned via Loughrigg Terrace and the caves for our last yoga session of the weekend, followed by lots more tea and cake of course.
If you would like to join in 2017, for a Rydal Hall Yoga Hikes weekend we are staying at the hall in October again:
We also stay in the Rydal Centre in the grounds of Rydal hall in March:
This is just one review of the 2016 trip:
“Had such a great time! Kevin and Yen were great hosts/organisers and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to a friend to sign up for a future trip!!”
